Jeffery Alan Christiansen, a 67-year-old resident of Olalla, tragically died during a night dive at Redondo Beach Park on August 25. After suffering a medical emergency, he was retrieved from Puget Sound by fellow divers, but efforts to revive him with CPR by South King Fire & Rescue crews were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other divers experienced a rapid ascent while trying to assist him and were subsequently transported to local hospitals for observation. The cause and manner of death are still pending as determined by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident occurred near the 28200 block of Redondo Beach Drive South, a popular diving location in the area.

The Des Moines Police Department is currently leading the investigation into the situation. South King Media expressed condolences to Christiansen's family and the diving community during this difficult time. This incident highlights the risks associated with night diving and the importance of safety protocols.
