Anacortes Library making cutbacks

Anacortes, WALocal News

Anacortes Library announces significant service adjustments due to a reduced workforce. Starting December 6, the library will close at 3:00 PM on Saturdays, with a plan to return to a 4:00 PM closure by the end of January 2026. Director Jeff Vogel emphasized the staff's commitment to preserving essential community services amid these changes. Passport services will remain paused for the rest of the year, while technology help will only be available on Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Interlibrary loan requests will experience delays, and regular programming may be adjusted.

Additionally, access to Hoopla will be discontinued for Anacortes Library patrons after December 31, 2025. The library urges community members to support the Friends of the Library and the Anacortes Public Library Foundation through volunteering. These changes reflect ongoing efforts to maintain vital resources for the community during challenging times.
